I don't usually watch the ESPN "30 for 30" movies but one caught my eye yesterday morning--"Four Days in October"--so I decided to record it and I watched it last night after work. It's follows the 2004 ALCS between the Red Sox and Yankees. Very well-put together, though I'm no movie critic. It really grabs you and makes you a Sox fan as you feel the emotions of the players and fans, and even the disbelief of the Yankees fans as they watch the all-but-wrapped-up series fall apart in front of them--at Yankee Stadium, no less. All the big moments are relived in great detail, from Dave Roberts' daring steal of second in Game 4 when it's all but over for Boston, to the shenanigans of Game 6: Curt Schilling's bloody sock and A-Rod's slap at Bronson Arroyo's glove on the way to first base. The cinematic quality really adds to the movie and makes each step of the 04 ALCS very poignant. It's a great lead into this year's MLB playoffs.
Speaking of which, here my MLB playoff picks very quickly (Tampa and Texas first pitch should be occurring any second):
ALDS
Tampa over Texas in 5
New York over Minnesota in 4
NLDS
Philly over Cincy in 3
San Fran over Atlanta in 5
ALCS
New York over Tampa in 7
NLCS
Philly over San Fran in 5
World Series
Rematch of 2009 WS: Philly over New York in 7 (is anyone hotter than the Phillies right now?)
