BCS title game prediction

BCS National Championship-Glendale, Ariz.
No. 1 Auburn vs. No. 2 Oregon

The time has come. The wait is over. Time to settle it on the field, and see who the best team in America is--sorta. The BCS has delivered a great championship game, but TCU--the only undefeated team left after either Auburn or Oregon lose tonight--would still have something to say about who is the best team in the land.
On to my pick. My head tells me Oregon. The Ducks have a more complete defense than the Tigers. Their offense is more than one person. Oregon has looked more dominant throughout the year. The Ducks struggled against just California and Stanford. They controlled the other teams they played.
Auburn has had several close calls this year. The Tigers beat five teams by a touchdown or less. They won 17-14 over Mississippi State, 27-24 in OT over Clemson, 37-34 over Kentucky, 24-17 over LSU, and 28-27 over Alabama. I'm not going to pretend I know everything there is to know about Auburn, but it seems to have just one main weapon on offense--Cameron Newton. Newton is a beast and the Heisman winer. I don't know if he can do it all. We will see.
The Ducks offense is about LaMichael James (third in Heisman voting), Darron Thomas, and the speed of the entire offense. Will Auburn be able to keep up the entire game? Will the defense get gassed in the fourth quarter, like pretty much all of their opponents have this season?
I also give the coaching edge to Oregon. Chip Kelly has take an already solid Oregon program to spectacular heights, Gene Chizik is, I think, a great coach.  But I thnk he landed a lucky one with Newton. No one expected him to be this good. And before he got to Auburn, Chizik was not a hot coaching candidate. He was downright ordinary in a brief stay at Iowa State.
With all this said, I just have a feeling about Auburn. We can never count the Tigers out, since they have the most explosive and dominant player in the nation on their side in Newton. And the SEC's track record in national championships speaks for itself. The conference has won the last four championships--two for Florida, one for LSU, and one for Alabama. I like Auburn in a tight, exciting contest. Look for Cam Newton to take the game over. Auburn wins, 37-36.
