Virginia hosts Maryland tonight

The Cavaliers play the Terrapins tonight at 7 at JPJ. Playing Maryland at home is always a game I look forward to--it's right up there with Virginia Tech for me and in basketball, it rivals that rivalry, I think.
Maryland has a double-double machine in sophomore Jordan Williams, who averages 17.6 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, so we will have our hands full with him. Other than Williams, only Cliff Tucker (11.6) averages double figures in points. Maryland seems to have a solid team across the board but they are only 12-7 overall and 2-3 in the ACC and haven't gotten a marquee win yet--one that would help them if they end up on the bubble come March. So they'll be desperate to get all the wins they can over teams they should presumably beat, like Virginia. Maryland played both Duke (71-64 loss) and Villanova (74-66 loss) very tough on the road and also gave Pittsburgh (79-70 loss) and Illinois (80-76 loss) all those teams could handle as well on neutral sites. The Terps have struggled this year as well, however, losing by 17 at home to Virginia Tech and by three to Temple, also at home.
It should be a great game tonight between two young teams trying to play consistently at a high level. Hopefully the JPJ crowd will be rocking. We always need them against Gary Williams and the Terps.
