Final-BC 63, UVA 44

The power got unplugged on my computer, and it turned off, so I actually am writing this later than I want.
I think someone unplugged the power on the Hoos' offense today. I read on the sabre.com that over the last 22 minutes of the game, BC outscored UVA 42-16. Wow. Once BC got momentum near the end of the first half and finally took the lead, they never looked back.
Like I said in the post before this, it's never a good sign when Sene leads the team in scoring, and he tied for the team lead today with 10 points. Farrakhan also had 10 points, but he had only two points in the second half.
Virginia shot 32 percent for the game, and 4 of 21 (19 percent) from beyond the arc. Sammy was 1-for-10 from the field, Farrakhan was 4-for-13, and Jontel Evans was 1-for-8. Just not a good game for anyone.
BC, meanwhile, was 9-for-23 from 3, and Reggie Jackson was awesome, pouring in 25 points on 10 of 16 shooting. Corey Raji had 17 points, and Joe Trapani added 12. Kudos to BC. They had to win this game, and except for the first few minutes of the game, played like it. After falling to Miami in their last game, nothing short of beating UVA soundly would look good on their resume. Now they face Virginia Tech on the road Tuesday in what will be another big ACC bubble matchup.
I'm not mad at Virginia for losing this game. It just wasn't there today. We've seen over the past few games that UVA is capable of both good basketball, and really bad basketball. We have a long way to go before we compete in the upper echelon of conference. Maybe the pieces will be there next year, it is tough to tell. I think we will have the potential to be a top 4 ACC team, but we have a lot of work to do to get there.

  1. If we can just fix this rampant streakiness shooting the basketball, we will be good. Really maddening at times. It'll be interesting to see what teams like FSU, VT, and others lose to graduation (because besides Mu we don't really lose much), which might clear our way for a top 4 finish as you say.

Also, where in the hell has KT Harrell been lately? He's disappeared Sylvan-style in the past few games.
