Jarmere Jenkins come up short of "Triple Crown," but helps nab doubles title; Virginia baseball to take on Army on Friday

UVA TENNIS
Virginia tennis player Jarmere Jenkins went for a clean sweep of titles on Memorial Day at the University of Illinois, but came up short, falling to Ohio State's Blaz Rola, 7-6 (8), 6-4. He did team with Mac Styslinger, however, to take the doubles title from the Texas duo of Chris Camillone and David Holiner, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

With the Cavaliers' team victory over UCLA last week, Virginia won two out of three men's national championships and came up just short of a third.

It was an incredible season for the tennis team, which finally broke through and won a national title after two years of losing to USC in a row in the finals. The Wahoos bring back a lot of talent next year. Jenkins is gone, along with fellow singles player Julen Uriguen, but UVa brings in the best recruiting class in the country so it will be interesting to see if Virginia can reload, continue their dominance, and perhaps make another run to a national championship.

  1. None of these teams worry me a ton (maybe Army a little). I think we're good to advance out of this region. Super Regionals will be interesting.
