NFL picks

I didn't do any NFL picks last week. Two weeks ago, I went just 1-5 and am now 22-21 on the season. The only game I correctly picked was Dallas beating Philadelphia which is ironic, because a lot of times, I don't do a good job of picking my favorite team's games. And who can? They are exactly .500 since their last Super Bowl win so it is literally a tossup every time they play.

Saints at Jets, 1 p.m. CBS
The Jets have alternated wins and losses this season and they lost last week to the Bengals, 49-9. So they will win this week? I don't think so. Sean Payton, in his first year back since a yearlong suspension, has the Saints rolling along nicely. New York will put up a good fight at home but fall short.
Saints 28, Jets 21

Chargers at Redskins, 1 p.m. CBS
Should be a pretty high-scoring game. The Redskins took a lead on the Broncos last week but got blown out in the second half and lost, 45-21. San Diego was off a week ago and before that, beat the Colts and Jaguars. Two weeks ago, the 'Skins beat the Bears in a shootout at home. This week, I think they lose a shootout at home to the Chargers.
Chargers 38, Redskins 35

Falcons at Panthers, 1 p.m. FOX
The schizophrenic Panthers are getting on a little roll here lately, with three straight wins over the Bucs, Rams, and Vikings. The Falcons have been devestated by injuries this season and their defense has been porous.
Panthers 27, Falcons 17

Ravens at Browns, 4:25 p.m. CBS
The Ravens are coming off a bye week and back-to-back close losses to Pittsburgh and Green Bay -- while the Browns almost beat the undefeated Chiefs last week. Jason Campbell was surprisingly effective under center for Cleveland. The Browns kept the game in Baltimore during Week 2 close, losing just 144-6. I'm calling an upset here.
Browns 20, Ravens 17

Steelers at Patriots, 4:25 p.m. CBS
Patriots 31, Steelers 20

Colts at Texans, 8:30 p.m. NBC
Colts 27, Texans 21

Bears at Packers, 8:30 p.m. Monday night ESPN
Packers 38, Bears 20

Vikings at Cowboys, 1 p.m. FOX
The Cowboys have been terrible this season against the pass, but a little better against the run. Unfortunately, they face one of the best running backs in the league today in Adrian Peterson. He has been pedestrian the past few weeks, however. Fortunately, under center, the Cowboys must stop Christian Ponder, who started last week against the Packers and was just OK. The Cowboys get back DeMarco Murray at running back and that should help their offense be more effective. The Vikings are up there with the Cowboys as far as the league's worst defenses.
Cowboys 28, Vikings 17
