Couple huge games tonight in college football, so here's a special picks edition for Thursday.
No. 10 Oklahoma at No. 6 Baylor, 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1
Undefeated Baylor is putting up an incredible 64 points per game this season (about nine more per game than Oregon, which is No. 2 in that category) but the Bears have played the likes of Wofford, Buffalo, a weak West Virginia team, Iowa State, and Kansas. This is their toughest test of the year thus far. The one-loss Sooners have a good pass defense and should pose a solid challenge for Baylor. At home, I think Baylor will pull this one out but it will be close.
Baylor 38, Oklahoma 35
No. 3 Oregon at No. 5 Stanford, 9 p.m. ESPN
In a battle of a top offense vs. a top defense, Stanford shut down Oregon last year in Eugene, 17-14, keeping the Ducks from going to the national title game. I think Oregon will get back at the Cardinal this year in Palo Alto, who haven't looked quite as sharp as last season. Stanford's rush defense is one of best in the country but its pass defense is ranked just 92nd. If the Ducks' run gets stuffed, they can turn to a quick passing game. Should be a good game, as both teams have this game circled and each has been able to prepare for 1.5 weeks. In their last game, the Ducks won, 42-14, over UCLA on Oct. 26. On the same day, the Cardinal bested Oregon State, 20-12.
Oregon 45, Stanford 23
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And just to top it off, tonight's NFL game is a big one for the Redskins, who are trying to gain ground on the Cowboys in the NFC East.
Redskins at Vikings, 8:25 p.m. NFL Network
The Washington offense is coming around and the Vikings defense is not very good. Adrian Peterson and Minnesota are due a win, and can get this one with a turnover-free game, but I think Christian Ponder makes a big mistake somewhere and the Redskins walk out of the Metrodome with a victory.
Redskins 31, Vikings 24
