Sugar Bowl prediction

I went 1-1 in picks yesterday. Michigan State beat Stanford 24-20, and I guessed it would be 21-20 so just three points away on that. Overall, though, I am still just a mediocre 7-6 on bowl picks this season.

Allstate Sugar Bowl
No. 3 Alabama (11-1) vs. No. 11 Oklahoma (10-2)
New Orleans - 8:30 p.m. ESPN
Alabama was a miracle play away from heading to overtime with Auburn in this year's Iron Bowl. Had it won in OT, the Crimson Tide would have played Missouri in the SEC title game and likely would have won, making the BCS championship again. Instead, War Eagle pulled off the upset with an improbable missed FG TD return and the Tide was relegated to the Sugar Bowl vs. always-pretty-good-but-never-great Oklahoma. The Sooners lost a pair of games this year, 36-20 to Texas and 41-12 to Baylor. They did, however, play one of their best games of the year against Oklahoma State in the Bedlam Series in the regular-season finale, winning 33-24 on the Cowboys' home field and knocking them out of the conversation for a Big 12 title. I would say that this is an easy Alabama win, but we have seen some surprises so far this bowl season. Just last night, Central Florida was a double-digit underdog to Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl and ended up winning, 52-42. Also yesterday, Nebraska, which has a had maligned defense all season, held Georgia to 19 points in the Gator Bowl and won by five points. Duke, who many buried before its game vs. Texas A&M, ran out to a 38-17 lead before losing to the Aggies 52-48 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, one of the best of the season. So I expect the Tide to roll, but maybe the Sooners can surprise some people. They should have the greater motivation in this game. Still, the Big 12 has not accounted itself too well so far in the bowls. Kansas State beat a Michigan team on its backup QB but Baylor fell to UCF and Oregon smoked Texas.
Alabama 31, Oklahoma 21
