A look at the Charlottesville Regional teams

The NCAA baseball tournament gets underway today with the Charlottesville Regional. There are 16 other regionals happening around the country this weekend with four teams in each regional for a total of 64 tournament teams, (approximately) like the basketball tournament. The regionals are double-elimination format. The winners of each regional advance to the super regionals, which are eight, two-team matchups where, to advance, the winning team must win two out of three games (it is the Sweet 16 of college baseball). The eight winners then advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Virginia faces Bucknell at 2 p.m. and Liberty takes on Arkansas at 7 p.m. today. Virginia's game will be on ESPN3.com and the Liberty-Arkansas matchup will be ESPNU. The losers of those games will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday in an elimination game. The winners will meet at 8 p.m. The winner of the first game Saturday and the loser of the second game Saturday will play Sunday at 1 p.m. in an elimination game. The winner of that game will face the winner of the second Saturday game at 8 p.m. Sunday. If the team with one loss going into that game loses, it is out and the winner moves on to super regionals. Should the team with zero losses lose that game, the two teams will play another game Monday at 7 p.m. in an elimination game. And now a closer look at the teams:
