I know I am a little late to the party, but the World Series between the Royals and Giants is tied at a game apiece and San Francisco won Game 1 in Kansas City, 7-1, on Tuesday and KC then turned around and won, 7-2, in Game 2 on Wednesday. So the series is pretty even with the Giants holding a slight 9-8 overall scoring lead. So essentially, the two teams are now getting ready to play a five-game series. First to three more wins takes the World Series.

The Giants, though, did steal home field advantage from the Royals by winning in Kansas City. Certainly, San Francisco also has the experience edge, having won two of the last four championships. The Royals, of course, captured the imagination of the nation with an undefeated run through the postseason, going 8-0 up until losing in Game 1 to the Giants. The Royals haven't won a WS since 1985 and are certainly the underdog. I saw a really cool Kansas City Star newspaper design
before Game 1 that had the page split in half with a Giants player on the left with the Golden Gate Bridge behind him and a Royals player on the right with a blue storm behind him. In big letters, the headline read "Dynasty vs. Destiny."

Let's take a look at some numbers.

Game 1: Royals' best hitter: Salvador Perez - 1 for 3, 1 HR, 1 RBI; Giants' best hitter: Hunter Pence - 2 for 3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Winning pitcher: Madison Bumgarner - 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO; losing pitcher: James Shields - 3 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO
Game 2: Royals' best hitter: Omar Infante -  2 for 3, 1 HR, 2 RBI; Giants' best hitter: Gregor Blanco - 1 for 4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Winning pitcher: Kelvin Herrera - 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO (starter Yordano Ventura pitched 5.1 innings and gave up eight hits and two runs while striking out two; losing pitcher: Jake Peavy - 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 SO
Game 3 starters (with 2014 postseason stats): Royals' Jeremy Guthrie (0-0 in one game, 1.80 ERA) at Giants' Tim Hudson (0-0 in two games, 3,29 ERA)
Game 4 starters: Royals' Jason Vargas (1-0 in two games, 2.38 ERA) at Giants' Ryan Vogelsong (0-0 in two games, 5.19 ERA)
Royals' best postseason hitter: Eric Hosmer (.371, 2 HR, 8 RBI); Giants' best postseason hitter:
Brandon Belt (.279, 1 HR, 7 RBI)

So for my pick, and this is something I felt before the series, I am going with the title experience of the Giants. I just think they will find a way when it matters most. Having home field advantage now could also factor into the result. The Royals have been a fun team to watch but I think their run is going to come to an end. Their playoff streak was compared to the 2007 Rockies, who streaked into the playoffs and through the postseason 7-0 before meeting the Red Sox in the World Series. Colorado lost in four games.
