I fully expect the Cowboys to play better tonight than they did at home on Thanksgiving Day, losing to the Eagles, 33-10. Will it be enough? That is tough to tell.
Dallas has had a lot more time to get ready for this game than the first game. The first week, yes, Philly played the same day as Dallas, but the Cowboys were on the road and playing at night vs. the Giants. Philly was at home earlier in the day and so got to rest up a little before leaving for Dallas. And, for whatever reason, Tony Romo decided against a pain-killing shot before the game, something he has not been declining this year since hurting his back against Washington. It seemed to affect his performance on Turkey Day as Romo completed just 18 of 29 passes for 199 yards, zero TDs, and two INTs. I do not know why he didn't take the shot on such short rest (when it seems like you would want it more), but that is beside the point. I expect him to play better tonight.
None of that will matter if the defense doesn't do better this time around against the Eagles offense. In the first meeting, LeSean McCoy racked up 159 yards and a touchdown on the ground while Mark Sanchez completed 20 of 29 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles led, 23-7, at the half. Dallas must slow McCoy to make Sanchez beat it. That is when he is shaky, when he must do more than manage the game.
Overall, I see the Cowboys playing much better this time around. I hope it is enough, but something tells me it won't be. I like the Eagles in a close contest.
