Virginia ended up getting the No. 3 seed in the Lake Elsinore Regional in California. It will face USC, the No. 2 seed, at 6 p.m. today. The ACC tournament did not end well for the Cavaliers as they lost all three of their pool-play games after crushing Georgia Tech in the play-in game. You might be wondering which school is hosting the Lake Elsinore Regional. That would be UC Santa Barbara. The Lake Elsinore stadium is the home of the Storm, a Class A Advanced minor league club that plays in the California League. This stadium has lights while UC Santa Barbara's does not so the Gauchos will be "hosting" a regional some 175 miles away from their campus.
UVa was hoping that Nathan Kirby, its best starter before he got hurt, would be able to pitch this weekend and relieve, if not start. However, Brian O'Connor announced Thursday Kirby will not be ready to pitch this weekend, a blow for the 'Hoos.
