Baseball: The team ended up sweeping UNC and grabbed the No. 7 seed in the ACC tournament, finishing the season with a flourish and a 33-19 record. The team is 6-1 in its past seven games. The Cavaliers face No. 10 seed Georgia Tech (32-22 overall) in Durham, N.C., today at 11 a.m. in an ACC tournament play-in game. The game is available on CSN. During the regular season, Tech took two of three from Virginia in Atlanta. Josh Sborz, who was the closer for much of the year but was pressed into a starting role after Nathan Kirby was injured, will start. Sborz is 2-2 this year with a 2.49 ERA and has started two games. The Yellow Jackets will counter with Jonathan King (4-4, 3.24). He started the game that Virginia won in Atlanta. UVa tagged him for nine hits and seven earned runs in 5.2 innings. UVa scored seven runs in the third inning and Tech had two errors in the game.

The Cavs easily downed Texas A&M in the quarterfinals, 4-0, and then beat Baylor on its home courts, 4-2, in a tight match. Virginia had lost twice to Baylor this year, once in the indoor national tournament and once in the outdoor regular season. UVa is in the finals for the fourth time in five years. Virginia won the title once, in 2013, beating UCLA, 4-3. Oklahoma also beat UVa this year, 4-3, at Oklahoma during the regular season.
Golf: The men's team is in the national championships after advancing through its regional, finishing fifth, the last possible spot that could make the national tournament, which consists of 30 teams. It begins May 29. The women are in their 24-team tournament, too, after finishing fifth in their regional. They had to finish at least sixth. Both tournaments are being held in Bradenton, Fla. The women this Friday.
