The best-of-three Charlottesville Super Regional kicks off today at 4 p.m. Saturday's game is at 3 p.m. and the game Sunday, if necessary, is at 3 p.m. These longtime ACC rivals -- though Maryland is now in the Big Ten -- also met in the Charlottesville Super Regional last year when Maryland won Game 1, 5-4, UVa took Game 2, 7-3, and Virginia crushed UMD, 11-2, in Game 3 to advance to Omaha and the College World Series for the third time in its history.

It is unclear who would start Game 3. Nathan Kirby has been cleared to play, however, Brian O'Connor has indicated he doesn't expect to use Kirby. Who knows how good he would even be, not throwing against live batters since April. Maybe he could be used in a pinch out of the bullpen but O'Connor is also protecting Kirby's future as a possible high selection in the MLB draft.
