No. 4 Louisville at No. 12 Virginia, 7 p.m. ESPN
The Cavaliers, coming off another disappointing loss against Syracuse, have a quick turn around tonight against a tough Louisville squad which it has beaten four times in five games.
I'll need to keep this short given the time. Basically, this is another big game and opportunity for Virginia to build a great-looking resume and a step to staying in the race for the ACC regular-season title. The Wahoos beat the Cardinals earlier in the year at Louisville, 61-53. UVa played great for 30 minutes, and then not-so-great for 10, but held on. Virginia was paced by Devon Hall with 10 points, and London Perrantes chipped in nine. No Louisville players scored in double figures, but the Cards were led by Deng Adel, Quentin Snider, and Tony Hicks with eight points each. Adel and Mangok Mathiang are out tonight for missing curfew Saturday night, coach Rick Pitino announced earlier Monday. Adel averages 11.1 points and 4.3 rebounds. Mathiang averages 7.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. So those are pretty big losses for the Cardinals.
Obviously, one of the biggest things to watch tonight is Virginia's aggressiveness and the officiating, which was questionable at times against Syracuse. Mostly, though, Virginia just played a really bad second half against the Orange after getting up 12 by halftime. It is especially concerning as well combined with the fact that Louisville played well toward the end of the first matchup. However, I like UVa at home in a close game.
Gut feeling: Virginia wins by 1-5 points.
