No. 3 Clemson at No. 14 Louisville, 8 p.m. ABC
This matchup at Clemson last year was one of the best games of the season as the Tigers won, 42-36. The rematch is at Louisville, but the Cardinals have struggled in beating Purdue and North Carolina so far. The defense has given up a lot of points, but of course Lamar Jackson has been special. Clemson needs to generate its own offense after only beating Auburn 14-6, but the defense is for real and can provide problems for Jackson.

Connecticut at Virginia, Noon ESPN2
It is only the third game into the second season of the Bronco Mendenhall era at Virginia, but this feels like a big game. Coming off a 2-10 year, you hope for a little progress this season. If there have been steps made so far, they have been small. UVa didn't fall on its face against its FCS foe, but then only hung around for awhile against Big Ten team Indiana, which is not exactly Ohio State or Michigan. Last week's game, though, seemed closer than the final score at times. UVa got the game to 27-17 and got the ball back, but had to punt and then gave up a return TD. Teams have done a good job of bottling up UVa's short passing game and running game so far, and Kurt Benkert was inaccurate last week on throws over 10 yards. Connecticut beat UVa 13-10 last year. Virginia led 10-0, but gave up 13
consecutive points and then rushed out a walk-on kicker to try to tie the game as time was expiring. The rushed kick was missed, and UConn escaped. The Huskies only finished 3-9 and fired coach Bob Diaco. In his place, they rehired Randy Edsall, who was fired from Maryland a couple seasons ago. He went 74-70 from 1999-2010 with UConn in his first time there. The Huskies struggled in Week 1, beating Holy Cross just 27-20. They didn't play last week as their game at South Florida was canceled because of Hurricane Irma. This is a game Mendenhall needs to win if he hopes to show progress this season. A loss, and it's looking more like a two- to three-win season. A win, and UVa already matches their total from last year and has a better shot at four or five victories.
