Sam Hauser picks Virginia

And it's official.

Marquette transfer Sam Hauser, rumored for a few days now to be coming to Virginia, will indeed be a Cavalier for his final basketball season. He will sit out this coming season and then be eligible for the 2020-21 campaign.

Hauser, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward, averaged 14.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists last season while starting 33 of 34 games. He shot 40.2 percent from beyond the arc, actually the lowest number of his career. Over three seasons, he's at 44.5 percent. And he shot an incredible 92.4 percent from the

free throw line this past season and sits at 87.6 percent for his career. This is a player who could potentially be an all-ACC performer in his one season in Charlottesville.

Both Hauser brothers, the other one being Joey, who was also at Marquette, were expected to stay together and land at Wisconsin, but that sentiment changed the past few days. Joey is headed to Michigan State, where he will sit out next season then have three left.

The Hausers attended Stevens Point High School in Wisconsin, Tony Bennett's alma mater.
