Week 10 Friday college picks; Virginia-Louisville postponed

Last week: 7-2 Season: 47-20

On Wednesday, UVa's game this week against Louisville was postponed due to too many positive COVID-19 cases in the Cardinals' program. Louisville was already missing several players last week in its 42-35 loss to Virginia Tech. The teams hope to make up the game Nov. 14, which was originally a bye week for the Cavaliers. Now, they have a bye this week.

There are some more games Saturday I would like to get to and make predictions for, but first, here are my predictions for two Friday night games, one of which is an ACC matchup.

No. 11 Miami (5-1) at N.C. State (4-2), 7:30 p.m. ESPN
The Hurricanes have thus far avoided their usual pitfalls and find themselves with just one loss at Clemson. They didn’t look super sharp two weeks ago in defeating Virginia 19-14, but a week off might help them shape up. And the Wolfpack did not inspire confidence their last time out, also two weeks ago, in a 48-21 defeat to North Carolina. QB Devin Leary is still out for State, and Bailey Hockman didn’t do much to help the ‘Pack against the Tar Heels. I doubt he will generate a lot of points against the Hurricanes’ stout defense.
Miami 28, N.C. State 17

No. 7 BYU (7-0) at No. 21 Boise State (2-0), 9:45 p.m. FS
The Cougars, Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall’s old team, have outscored opponents by an average of 44.4-13.4. They haven’t played anyone really tough yet, but Troy and Louisiana Tech do have winning records, and Houston has a pretty good offense. Texas-San Antonio, which is 4-4, gave the Cougars their biggest scare at 27-20, but BYU was ahead by more than a score for much of the contest. That game was the only time this season BYU has not scored at least 41 points. Boise State represents probably the most difficult challenge for BYU in 2020. The Broncos’ season really just got underway, and they clobbered Mountain West foes Utah State (42-13) and Air Force (49-30). This should be a good matchup, but I’ll take the team that has more games under its belt
BYU 34, Boise State 31
